I was so surprised that there weren't too many people in Causeway Bay this Easter weekend and immediately after spotting two empty tables from a distance, I decided to have a tea break at Ladurée!
The silverware and pastel color tableware are so pretty and so befitting the Easter palette theme that I am swamped with happiness once seated.
Since this is a salon de thé, we have tea naturally. On this occasion, we have only two macarons, the Cherry Blossom and Lemon Passion Fruit flavors. The fillings are delicious and taste just as the description, flavorful and fine but the crust is rather disappointing. I used to rave about Ladurée's light and crispy thin crust and the best macaron producer in town but not so certain now. I am not sure they are made in Hong Kong or from France or whether the thick and uncrispy crust is the problem of freshness or due to climate or ingredient changes. I was so impressed how tasty they still were after I hand carried them back to Hong Kong from Paris in spite of the 2-day lapse before--what happens here?

The tea is good though. I remember her special edition blue Marie Antoinette macaron was really good so I chose the same name for tea, thé Marie-Antoinette. It's a smart choice and I really enjoy it. My friend has thé mélange spécial Ladurée which is too Frenchy for me. It tastes like verbena or anise and there is cinnamon in the description indeed.

And then we have Rose Petal Cake which is equally satisfying in its richness and aroma.

Service wise, it wasn't smooth. We ordered tea and they gave us coffee and when we wanted a menu, they gave us the check!
