We came across this little restaurant on our way home and decided to give it a try. The menu is only available in Chinese and you need to order and pay (cash only) on a machine, also all in Chinese. These are the only two caveats I had about this place.As a small fast moving place, we expected no service. You get your own soup and drinks at a counter, and wait for your food to be prepared. As a small fast moving place, we expected no service. You get your own soup and drinks at a counter, and wait for your food to be prepared. But the place gives you a very nice vibe. We got seats at one end of the long teppan and had a nice view of the entire place. Unlike other places where several cooks prepare the meals just.for the people in front of them, here a small team of cooks have divided and conquered, each taking care of a part of the process. So the food gets prepared quite quickly.
We ordered pork and chicken, and added eggs on the side. As we got in just at peak hour, there were several orders at once and we got served beef instead. One of the cooks apologised right away and asked if I was ok with switching to beef, otherwise I would have to wait longer. We didn't mind at all.
The beef and the chicken were absolutely delicious! The cook was very nice and, very unexpectedly, tried to talk to me in English, something that is now rarer in Hong Kong. He also gave me a small portion of cuttlefish on the house!
The taste of the food is much better than in many other way more expensive restaurants.
This appears to be just a "soft opening", but I wish them all the best. We will for sure dine there again.
