To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. I’m not a vegan myself, so I don’t really actively seek for vegan places when I head out to eat. The other day, my friend took us to this newly opened vegan place on a Saturday for late lunch, and to my expectations, I was totally blown out! I’ve always thought vegan would be quite bland and not many choices. But I was totally amazed with the food. Not only the food tasted delicious, but you can tell that the chef has put his/her effort in the plating and presentation of the food. This place has a small bakery too, where they have fresh homemade bread and bagels everyday! For someone like me who doesn’t take beef, the first thing that caught my eyes on the menu was the root burger and fries. It was YUMMY!! I know for sure that I’ll definitely go back again, SOON!!
