Warning ⚠️ I had pork today... real pork... 😭😭😭Decided to try the omnipork at Meat Pie Gor today. When ordering, the waitress asked if we want soup with our lunch meals but the soup has real pork. We were confused then told her we are vegan and don’t eat meat. We wanted one with rice and one with pumpkin congee. Decided to try the omnipork at Meat Pie Gor today. When ordering, the waitress asked if we want soup with our lunch meals but the soup has real pork. We were confused then told her we are vegan and don’t eat meat. We wanted one with rice and one with pumpkin congee. The waitress told us that the pumpkin congee has meat and the other option which was rice noodles have chicken powder... so the only vegetarian / vegan option is rice. (I don’t know why they offer the other two on the vegetarian menu if they both contain meat...)
Anyway, we ordered 1 steamed and 1 pan fried. The pan fried came first... took a bite and it tasted like real pork. I tasted something like fat... told my husband to try too and we both felt it was real pork. Told the waiter to check if it’s omnipork cuz it tastes like real pork... He laughed and said it is and told us that mock meat now tastes really real... and told us it’s safe cuz he has tried it before.
So we continued eating (still very skeptical but nth we can do)...and the steamed one came. I immediately tried the steamed one to see if there’s any difference. And I could tell that the steamed one was omnipork cuz the texture is very different and similar to the meatball texture I’ve had at Kind Kitchen. My husband told me not to eat the other one and continued eating.... next he felt something hard... spit it out and it was a piece of bone?!!!!! Completely speechless after that.... 100% confirmed that it must be real pork 😱😨
Did not enjoy our meal today. After being vegan for a year, we had our worst meal. Can’t believe we avoided chicken powder but got real pork! Never going back.
