I am always looking for new restaurants that have vegetarian options (I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian), yet can be enjoyed by non-vegetarian without asking them to change their habits. That is for the days when I do not want to proclaim my vegetarianism to the face of the world, yet want to share meal with loved one, friends, or colleagues.Mostly I comment on choice, taste and practicality for me as a vegetarian customer. This time I was taking a recommendation from a friend in the North Point area.

I am always looking for new restaurants that have vegetarian options (I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian), yet can be enjoyed by non-vegetarian without asking them to change their habits. That is for the days when I do not want to proclaim my vegetarianism to the face of the world, yet want to share meal with loved one, friends, or colleagues.

Mostly I comment on choice, taste and practicality for me as a vegetarian customer.

This time I was taking a recommendation from a friend in the North Point area. He pointed me at the local branch of this very popular Hong Kong chain, specialized in rice noodles.

Choice for vegetarian: The restaurant principle is to pick and choose all the items that will be used in the noodle soup. Out of 2 broth options, 1 is vegan (bamboo). The soups are based on spices, which are vegan again. Then in addition to the rice noodles, there is a large list of toppings to choose from (including two kinds of mushrooms, two types of tofu products, fresh veggies, etc. …).

Taste: I was there for the Ma La soup, hot and numbing. I was served, and I’ll definitely come back for it.

Practicality: I was given a number, and then sited at a shared table. They have a menu in English (pictures) where I could point my order. Food was served quickly after. Straight to the point and efficient.

Overall: Very good address for a quick veggie-friendly noodle soup in North Point. Definitely will go back.
