I was meeting a group of friends for dinner tonight and since we have a big group, we decided to have steamboat. One of us recommended Hot in A Pot restaurant, which seemed to be quite popular. They have few branches and we chose their Yau Ma Tei branch. It was located at Portland street, just a minute walk from Yau Ma Tei MTR. As a steamboat restaurant, their menu was very comprehensive, offering a wide range of food. It offered meat, seafood, vegetables, noodles and drinks etc. It even served
As a steamboat restaurant, their menu was very comprehensive, offering a wide range of food. It offered meat, seafood, vegetables, noodles and drinks etc. It even served cooked dishes as well.
Sugar cane juice - We ordered a jug of sugar cane juice and it was very sweet and refreshing, clear as well. Sugar cane taste was strong as well.
We ordered a mixture of pig stomach with white pepper and chiu chow style soup base. Both soup was tasty and clear, with not much MSG in it. Chiu chow soup base has a lot of ingredients in it, such as tofu, seaweed and minced meat in it etc.
Deep fried shrimp cake - It was fried till very crispy and chewy, able to taste the freshness of the shrimp meat. Thai sweet sauce was provided to enhance the flavour too.
Fried fish skin - I only dipped few seconds into the soup base and yet it was still very crispy and crunchy. The texture was thin and could be eaten alone without dipping into the soup.
Grass fish slices - It was fresh and the fish slices were smooth and chewy, with no bones in it.
Carp fish ball - As it was freshly hand made, it was extremely chewy and smooth, able to taste the freshness.
Shrimp ball and shrimp dumplings - As a prawn lover, i enjoyed it alot. Both were handmade as well, and it was very juicy and chewy, fresh as well.
