Though I've lived near Causeway Bay for many years now, there are still some restaurants I haven't been to but have been here for a LONG LONG time. One such place is here. A very local cha chan teng, it's located inside Jardine's Crescent, a small street alley with several street clothing vendors that lead to a mini wet market. There are many resturants also found there. On this day, we decided to try this one.A very typical cha chan teng, they surprisingly have an upstairs area. Menu is in Ch
A very typical cha chan teng, they surprisingly have an upstairs area. Menu is in Chinese only. There is no 10% service charge and you pay on your way out. As we arrived for a late lunch, we ordered off the tea set menu.
Boyfriend had the stir fried instant noodles with pork chops ($45). The pork chops were very well seasoned. The instant noodles were fried nicely and not dried out. Yet there wasn't too much sauce to make it soggy.
I had the all day set which included macaroni in tomato soup, fried egg, toast and a drink ($45). This was fabulous. The tomato soup was rich and was actually a borsch soup. There was a couple of pieces of brisket that was very tender. The carrots were large and sweet. The macaroni wasn't soggy.
The toast was very crispy with a light spread of butter. The egg was fried with a very runny yolk. Great to soak up with the toast.
Food was very good. And rather large portions as well. Price was reasonable. Definitely nice to try out something that has been here forever and never got around to it.
