I barely order beef in hot pot restaurants in HK because the meat is either frozen or overpriced. Came across SanGong promoting themselves as the first restaurant in HK serving up Taiwanese warm beef. Gotta give it a try!4 soup bases are available at $288 for 2 people, which come with 2 plates of beef, veggies, meatballs, udon/rice and a drink. Gu Zao Wei Bulalo Soup included tons of tofu and beef blood. The beef bone soup was savory which I didn't need any soy sauce to dip. I especially liked the beef blood with its firmer texture soaking up the flavors.
Tried all of the beef cuts - 三角肉 tri-tip, 牛頸脊 chuck flap tail and 三筋肉 flat iron. Overall meat quality was outstanding given the price. All served fresh and tasted beefy with a smooth texture. Chuck flap tail was my personal favorite which had a balanced amount of fat and a more buttery taste.
Highly recommending this hot pot menu considering the cheap prices and satisfying food quality. Great value for money!
