Wanted to visit this place last Friday but was so disappointed that it was full house that night and the earliest available time slot would be 9pm.We finally made it yesterday for lunch! Initially I was planning to go there without making a reservation as it's lunch and also the location is in outer CWB so wouldn't expect that it would be full...luckily my husband said it's better to make a reservation and so we did! We were so lucky as some people walked in and there were no available seating
We finally made it yesterday for lunch! Initially I was planning to go there without making a reservation as it's lunch and also the location is in outer CWB so wouldn't expect that it would be full...luckily my husband said it's better to make a reservation and so we did! We were so lucky as some people walked in and there were no available seating. There are approx only 18 seatings available - so would highly recommend you book in advance!
Not many options to choose from the lunch menu - U.S. beef or pork shabu shabu set, beef and pork shabu shabu + BBQ skewer set, seafood set and this other one which I forgot what it was - perhaps was vegetarian. The lunch sets ranged from HKD64 +.
We ordered 2 pork shabu shabu sets and 1 beef set. The waitress recommended the fish soup as the soup base for the shabu shabu. We ordered the fish soup and the pork soup as base.
Must say that for HKD68 (exclusive of service charge) is value for money. The set includes 1 soft drink, 1 appetitizer, vegetables + 8-10 pieces of beef/pork + soup base, udon or rice and dessert (mochi ice-cream). I wouldn't say that the beef or pork was terrific but was acceptable for a lunch set worth of HKD68. The udon was just so yummy and was so elastic! Really wanted to order an extra one, but it was sold out by 2pm. They were even running out of rice yesterday lunch too and had to make extra.
The fish soup base was perfect. We basically drank all the soup from the shabu shabu after cooking the udon. My mum is very sensitive to MSG and suprisingly she drank all the fish soup and she was not thirty afterwards!
My husband had pork marrow bone soup base, he loved it so much For me, I found it a bit too strong but was still nice!
We browsed through the dinner menu and was more expensive than the lunch sets offered - I think it costs approx HKD230 (exclusive of service charge) per person. I would love to go there and try out the dinner sets - they have kobe beef shabu shabu!! YUM YUM!
We are already planning to revisit this restaurant again~~~ As I am writing up this commentary, it makes me so hungry as it reminds me of the fish soup and also the udon!
