I have been to FoFo three times now and I am really puzzled about why some of the reviews here are so critical. The only thing I find offensive is the bill: HK$5,800 for 5 people including 2 bottles of Rioja. Let's forget this and move one to the food. Or rather, let's stick to the wine actually. It is one of the few places in Hong Kong where you can find a decent Spanish wine on the menu. We had two bottles of the Vega Sicilia "Alion" (Tempranillo); let's be simple in the description: it is a heavy red and it will certainly stain your lips by the end of the meal. It is however a great choice for what is to come.
The real attraction is the food. We were a pretty picky group: 2 were born in South America and three of us have lived in Spain for extended periods of time. What we figured is that FoFo does not make the kind of food you find on the Ramblas in Barcelona. It is not authentic. It is not really Spanish food though it has a lot of Spanish ingredients. But it is very good and can be quite inspired in many ways. We started with a very good Slow cooked foie gras with apple & mixed berries compote. The two jams do not mix very well but try them one after the other. The Saute wild mushroom with garlic are good but forgettable. The Grilled baby lamb rack with smoked eggplant & yogurt sauce were the favorite for several at the table. My personal favorite were the Crispy suckling pig with potato and mojo picon and the Mushroom and Iberico ham rice with hazelnut oil. We had a full portion of the latter and cleaned it up thoroughly. We finished with the Cheese platter (fine) and the Churos (really tasty if you grew up on it).
So let's summarize. Certainly too expensive but the food is a delight. It will clog your arteries but enough red wine will help in alleviating that issue. The fattiest dishes are the best.
I will definitely be back though not too often because neither by banker nor my doctor would allow me...
