This the first time I ever write a food comment in public, and hopfully this would give everyone an expectation how upset I am with this restaurant in a HOTEL. But to be fair, the hotel staff are polite - later on I will explain what the hotel staff who have seated us shouldn't have recommended us to have the semi-buffet, was polite to us. It's just the general knowledge and handling in a catering business is not at a hotel quality. It was Sunday. I was seated straight away when I arrived at 2ish
It was Sunday. I was seated straight away when I arrived at 2ish pm since it is towards the end of the lunch buffet and most people go there for buffet during that period of time. We asked if they serve a la carte. The staff answered Yes and we were seated. A moment later, the same hotel staff came again and said if we order a l carte, it will take on average 30 minutes for food to be served, then it changed to 20-40 minutes when my husband asked and confirmed this is what he have said. The staff suggest that the Mains in semi-buffet would come much quicker. We agreed to take the semi-buffet instead.
Food choices is very limited, but they do serve cold seafood so I guess this is their 'selling point', but unfortunately everything is stale and warm (which means anything which should be cold, or things which should be hot, are all warm - especially worse when it comes to raw fish). If this is what the food quality is 40 mins before the buffet ends, don't EVER suggest that to a customer because that only causes huge disappointment.
Main course, we have picked duck breasts. Same hotel staff asked how we want the duck breasts to be done, he advised not to be cooked too much and keep it juicy and tender. We agreed. Turned out very chewy.
Dessert. I think a lot of people look for good dessert in any buffet. Again, not good at all. Not ever up to a normal cake shop/bakery standart.
I'm very sorry to use the word "total rubbis", but indeed it was rubbish. We provided comment when hotell staff asked, we did as above (but did not blame him for suggesting us to have the buffet while it's all stale) was very kind to offer maybe a discount next time when we visit. We politely rejected the offer saying we will not come back again.
PS. not the fault of the hotel, but a group of local HK cusotmer a few table away from us kept swearing loudly during their conversation, which made the whole experience even worse. My comment above about food quality does NOT affected by this though.
