Frozen yogurt is something i have grown addicted to. Yes, froyos actually carry almost the same calories and sugar content as ice creams, and therefore are not as healthy as they appear to be. Yes, frozen yogurts are but snacks instead of proper substitutions of meals. Yes, I shouldnt eat cold food all day long. But the sight and sound of the frozen treat is irresistible. I can hardly move away from the froyo shops whenever i come by one, and the pull is especially strong for the better-known yogurt shops like Yo Mama.

Operated by a large restaurant chain, Yo Mama is among one of the best administered froyo shop in Hong Kong. It has shops in prime shopping malls; it has (for me) the best designed and most professional-looking logo; it also has the freshest toppings and froyo although not many flavours and choices are available. These keep pushing me back again and again for a cup of the consistently delicious froyo topped with generous spoonfuls of toppings.

I was there this afternoon. As if enhanced by some kind of charm, I subconsciously handed over $38 (not cheap!) for a regular green tea frozen yogurt with three toppings: silvered almonds, mochi and red bean(a new discovery!). Moving to the counter, we watched how the creamy yogurt were squeezed, and how an amazing amount of toppings were put over it. There were so much toppings that they kinda flew over the paper cup!

What i really like about the green tea yogurt here is that it is always thick and creamy, however smooth in texture that it was less like frozen yogurt but more like some sorta high-class soft ice cream. It was not very sweet but it was aromatic just like how freshly brewed matcha are like. With the big spoonful of red bean (which was extremely sweet and nice) and mochi (chewy, tasty and large in cubes), the froyo tasted and looked very Japanese! The almond flakes were also thin but very, very crispy and aromatic. The server also put two big spoonfuls of that onto my yogurt. What a treat!

Yo Mama rocks, and i am pretty sure she will continue to rock the industry with her delicious and creamy yogurt, as well as its tasty (and generous!) toppings.
