Bird's nest is most popular amongst women as it is said that it can improve your skin and make one look and feel younger. It is often eaten in sweet soups, but can also be prepared as a savoury dish ike this congee.
Ingredient and Portion
Prepared bird's nest (soaked in water)
White rice 1/2 cup
water 1/2cup
Chicken stock 1cup
minced pork 100g
minced chinese ham 4tbsp
Seasoning
Marinade for pork:
light soya sauce 1tsp
salt and pepper pinch
Cornstarch 1tsp
sesame oil 1tsp
Method
Soak dried bird's nest in water for at least 3 hours, remove dirty substances carfully and drain well.
Marinade pork, and boil in hot water along with ham mince.Drain well.
Bring stock and water to the boil, put in rice and cook to form congee.
Bring congee to the boil, add in all ingredients, stir well and cok until it boils again. Add in seasonings and serve.
