Not my first time here and will not be my last. There are other choices on the beach but we went "We want some Thai"Love restaurants that you can walk off a sandy beach and into a place that won't mind you making a mess.We got a pot of Tom Yum Kung, Minced pork wrapped w lettuce, Pineapple fried rice, Pad Thai, Grilled garlic prawns, Morning glory, Mixed vegatable, Green curry chicken.I partically am very impressed with the Green curry chicken. Good qaulity curry - not the pasty gooey mixture - with decent pieces of chicken.Grilled garlic prawns are done well and the others are the standard stuff and are ok.I think the drinks are on the sweeter side so maybe before you order next time, ask them to tone down the sugar level. Thais love their stuff sweet so I wonder if they were doing it the Thai way. There isn't a 10% service charge... that may have contributed to the relaxed service. Yet, service can be improved but since it is a beach and the laid backness I guess is contagious.

For gourmet seekers, you can be disappointed. For people who enjoy simple food, relaxed ambience, beauty of the nature, and friendship of staffers, this is the place to be.1. vegetable curry - very mild and sweeter than normal, good choice for kids but not spicy enuf for curry lovers2. vegetarian pineapple fried rice - with fresh pineapple and dried bean curd, taste as good as those with meat or seafood3. phat thai & vege fried rice noodles - both are well pan-fried without excessive oil or the noodles sticked together; the phat thai is a bit salty with the dark soy sauce, comparably the fried noodles taste better4. green payaya salad - crunchy n fresh, could be too sour for the sweet-toothes 5. spring roll - crispy without being too oily6. sago cake - better than most thai restaurants, fresh taste of young coconut and not so sweet or soggy.

The High Tide is extremely recommended. I got a table immediately without making a reservation on Sunday-they managed to accomodate us as compared to the other restaurants who were very snooty. Tom gave us excellent service and with kids that is highly appreciated.I would recommend this restaurant even for the food and drinks. They never said No for anything and tried their best to adjust the flavours of their good for us.

The location is beautiful - a mere 15 minute taxi ride from Tung Chung Station - and how nice a beach! The sand is white and fine - I never knew that such a nice beach existed in Hong Kong.Food is typical Thai (Northern), and particularly notable was the chili calamari salad and the red curry prawns with roti bread - nice use of herbs, with a thick aromatic sauce that goes well with bread or rice - of a higher standard than the watery and tasteless (or needlessly spicy) curry typically found in Hong Kong. I only had lime soda (which was perfect for the hot weather), but it appears that they have an excellent selection of wine on offer as well. The alfresco ambience together with direct access to the beach makes it a perfect spot to spend a nice weekend afternoon - highly recommended!

Thanks to the infrastructure making Lower Cheung Sha Beach one of the nicest in Hong Kong, and next door The Stoep pulling in the wekend crowd the Thai Restaurant HIGH TIDE on the beach is a natural, and a complementary addition to the dining scene here. As for The Stoep you eat in your beach gear, sand between your toes, kids running riot, parents chilling out, gweilos trying to get a tan, honkers trying to avoid it, shrieks everyway. We had squid in chilli sauce (great), minced pork meat in lettuce wraps (even better) for starters followed by a green chicken curry (good) and seafood pineapple fried rice (great) with a pint of lager. The whole family was satisfied and then ready to go a sit in the surf on the beach again whle not moving to much... PS cash only!
