上個星期日去high-tea, order 左Mozart cake同 scone. Mozart cake有不同質感, 榛子, dark chocolate, chocolate mousse等等. Scone 就好軟熟, 加cream cheese好正, 敗筆嘅喺用ready made jam, 唔夠誠意囉. 值得一提服務好好,環境好relax. Tea can be refilled too!

Oh, it's the end of the financial year and there is SO much to do at work. However, it is the only day my 3 friends could make afternoon tea and they insisted I take them to proper English afternoon tea. So I had to think of somewhere that looked a tea house, served properly made scones with clotted cream. And one of my favourite places for afternoon tea is here. However, it is the only day my 3 friends could make afternoon tea and they insisted I take them to proper English afternoon tea. So I had to think of somewhere that looked a tea house, served properly made scones with clotted cream. And one of my favourite places for afternoon tea is here. It's feminine and cosy and convenient to get to.

My friends being ladies were traditionally 20-30 minutes late and I was impatient thinking of all the work I could have done in that time but soon forgot as we ordered and the food started arriving. For the 4 of us, we ordered 2 Shangri La sets and one Traditional Afternoon tea sets. One has more savoury items and one more sweet ones. I myself like savoury items more but we all love scones.

With 3 sets, there were 5 scones, so more than enough for the 4 of us. I always like the plain scones and not the raisin ones. The cream was correct but the jam was not spectacular. Here is where I could have done with the Rose petal jam at the Mandarin Oriental, however their other items have really dropped below acceptable standards.

Our rule was whoever wanted what should just go for it as there were so many items. Except for the Macaroons, there were only 2 and we cut them up. One of my friends speak fluent French and she told me they are called Macaron in French, don't know why in English there is one more o.

I had a mini salmon bagel, vol le vent with chicken filling, meat puff, scone of course, half a macaron, half a small plain cake and that was enough. 4 of us couldn't finish 3 sets even though 2 of us had no lunch. I had Earl Grey tea and my friends had latte which was served in an elegant double layered tall glass.

I stayed over an hour plus the waiting time so had to go back. I left my friends happy with the choice of tea venue, the food, the time to get together.

I will be back.

每次lunch時間都經過‘高美食店 Island Gourmet’都很吸引著我望住,雖然店子面積不大,但店內裝修好有古典華麗感覺今次專程約了好友一齊嘆一嘆‘高美食店 Island Gourme’美點 la... 我哋2人聽取店員建議,各人叫了一份 tea set@HK220 因此,可以吃到更多不同款色,果然無信錯這店員的提議,我們都十分滿意。她們 ge service 都唔錯,所以太滿意ar...不知不覺坐了2hrs ,眼見餅櫃內一件件精美設計cakes,終於忍唔住再叫一件 chocolate cake,wooo...當然味道梗係唔錯la..但本身太飽 nu...下次一定要只係食不同款cake cake sin...

十二月中旬‧陰天為我在這裡的「到期日」試吃「山水餅」,是日買來幾件這裡的。黑森林做成四四方方的一件,蛋糕鬆軟,也有糖漬車厘子在內的,做得正宗;無買到mille feuille,所以榛子蛋糕是我自己的心水,因為我喜歡榛子的味道.榛子忌廉夠滑,又香又甜,配上的朱古力餅底很鬆軟,最合我意。跟試食員同樣認為水準不錯,可以考慮。

睇完雜誌,知道香格里拉都有做,我最愛的磅蛋糕!仲有三種口味:英國果子、焦糖杏脯和玫瑰紅莓味。佢地仲會加杏仁粉落去整。越特別既野我越感興,所以我買左「玫瑰紅莓」。一打開好香既玫瑰味,一食之下....怪怪地,好似有椰絲感覺(其實係杏仁粉惹的禍),杏仁粉蓋過牛油香,令到唔似食緊磅蛋糕。唯一蛋糕濕得黎唔糊口,是我欣賞的。味道係有陣陣玫瑰花味,可惜它是假的!成份沒有玫瑰,而用左香味劑、色素!甜度亦可見一班!有糖,卻又再加葡萄糖,唔怪之得咁甜啦!雜誌有「線犒」未必時常可信,但今次佢話焦糖杏脯啱口味d,唔通係真既!?p.s環境優雅,得閒可以來食tea都好喎(3:00-6:00)!

I really enjoy the down-to-earth cakes and croissant sold at DELI KOOL on the Kowloon side's Shangri-la hotel: http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/sr2.htm?shopid=10401So how about the offers at Island Shangri-la on the Hong Kong Island side:It was immediately obvious that the cakes at Island Gourmet are aimed at even a higher end audience. So how about the offers at Island Shangri-la on the Hong Kong Island side:

It was immediately obvious that the cakes at Island Gourmet are aimed at even a higher end audience. With a dine-in tea room and aggressively priced menu, not only are the displayed cakes here more prettier, but they also serve English Tea Sets, Lavazza Coffee and Gourmet Teas plus more..! Running out of time I only bought some Macarons to try:

VANILLA - The 1st one I ate and the texture was really crunchy on the exterior, the interior was moist. Its pretty good. What surprised me however was the presence of a piece of darkish 'fruit' inside the sandwich.... but I ate it too quickly before identifying it.
EARL GREY - This had a really strong Earl Grey tea taste, but isn't sweet at all. Lovely!
BLOOD ORANGE - This had a citrusy buttercream and this time I didn't miss the orange like jelly/candy hidden within!
RASPBERRY - With a jammy raspberry filling in the middle, which is not too dry like most other Macaron sandwiches.

THESE MACARONS WERE REALLY SPECIAL IN MY OPINION AND DONE REALLY WELL. THEY TASTE LIKE WHAT THEIR NAME TAGS SUGGEST, AND SOME SURPRISED ME WITH THE INCLUDED CANDY WITHIN.... THIS IS NOW PROBABLY MY 1ST CHOICE IF I BUY MACARONS AS PRESENTS TO SOMEONE!

尚未有機會品嘗Island Gourmet的下午茶,先一試其出品的朱古力.Truffle chocolate.有酒心,咖啡心,朱古力濃度未去到好苦,酒心的酒香不太搶,入口感覺香滑,有點到即止之感,混合著朱古力的回甘,吃到成個"lum"樣,"lum"到開不了口.一向麻麻地咖啡,但咖啡味道同樣不大濃,我不好咖啡者,也甘之如飴.如果小弟再次寫Island Gourmet的食評,應該會是下午茶,或者是糕點.

raspberry napoleon真的好好吃,又多水果,又香牛油味又鬆又脆,早上買回家下午再吃都不會變"林"另一款招牌蛋糕chocolate frou-frou也很好吃,不會太天,又有多種層次的享受,chocolate很香濃,入面的各層次又鬆又脆,很好此外還試過black forest,算是難得的正宗,但不及德國餐廳的(king ludwid beerhall),也沒有上兩種招牌蛋糕好而且這裡的蛋糕價錢不貴($28),但mille feuille(napoleon)很大件,比文華大多了,很抵阿

朱古力是愛的結晶。挑了六款「催情藥」:White Chocolate Truffle、Milk Chocolate Truffle、Dark Chocolate Truffle、Anis Chocolate、Brandys Truffle 同Poppy Seed Coffee Truffle(那牛奶巧克力及黑朱古力合桃crisps 只是用來陪襯);Poppy Seed Coffee Truffle 是最欣賞的- 罌栗籽跟creamy center 好夾,也有不搶的咖啡味;Brandys Truffle 也出眾- 個芯是焦糖加百蘭地而成,不太甜之餘也滑溜。其他的也不錯,只是上述兩款比較有特色同突出。祝情人節快樂。

朱古力是愛的結晶。

約友人黎shangri-la tea一tea, 本來係想食返好味mille feuille, 點知賣晒, 結果要左個bagatelle同埋一客scone set share.bagatelle -- 即士多啤梨忌廉蛋糕. 法國見到o既通常都係好多鮮忌廉, 但island gourmet serve o既係輕怡版, 基本上係無忌廉, 味道較清, 但士多啤梨就一流中o既一流! 我地兩個認為淨係食d士多啤梨都抵晒. scones -- 真係一流! 近數月食過最佳o既scones. 即使配o既果醬同cream都只係來貨都無減佢o既美味! 會常來翻炒.好回味o既一餐午茶!

朋友强烈推介, o係坊間餅店比較少見到o既一件法式糕餅. 用左意式蛋糕片包著香梨慕思, 慕思非常滑, 雖然梨味較淡, 但係滑溜o既口感同埋適中o既甜味好合我心意! 正!

o係巴黎返黎後, o係香港唔同o既餐廳,蛋糕店食過o既mille feuille都覺得唔滿意, 正當心灰意冷之時, 俾我食到island gourmet o既raspberry mille feuille就發覺仲有香港仲有希望!酥皮香脆到可以以刀整齊切開, 吉士香滑, 甜味適中, 一流!p.s. 雖然堂食有$12 surcharge, 但HSBC白金卡有85折.

o係巴黎旅行時食左好多餐好好味o既brioche, 返香港想重尋美味, 但原來香港得好少地方有正宗brioche供應, 搵左好耐, 終於o係island gourmet搵到. $9細細o既一個, 貴就貴d, 但係味道都唔錯, 人一世物一世, 算啦!

i remembered my mum would always take me here when i was little after school. and she would always order a huge bowl of cappuccino and i would always lurk before the patisserie case and try to make the best choice. it's the fruit tart (the ones with NO CUSTARD)that always won me over. love the almond tart. then i would finish the rest of mum's black forest (haha, at a time when no matter how much i eat, i wouldn't grow fat). i was around 10 then. coming back after 10 years, still spend a lot of

今天試過frou frou cake, 實在太好味啦! 厚厚一大層朱古力下面一層薄脆脆再一層薄糕, 整個組合配合得天衣無縫, 面頭一層朱古力味道濃郁口感軟滑濃厚, 下面一層薄脆脆質感細緻加添口感和層次感, 再加最下一層薄蛋糕軟軟的中和上面兩層的甜膩......真係好好味呀! (因為是客人賣來, 所以對環境服務抵食乾淨都不清楚, 只知道味道一定值滿分!)
