I had been thinking about where to go for afternoon tea in CWB and was attracted by the pretty special egg-shaped seats! It was quite quiet on a weekday afternoon.Menus were shown on a tablet via which I thought we could order. The afternoon tea set was charged at $398+10% for 2 persons, which was not particularly expensive but not cheap either.
The Belgium Waffle Set looked so appealing that we couldn't help but order one to try. We added $38+10% for the additional vanilla ice cream. How can waffle not come along with any ice cream? It cost $166+10% altogether.

Our drinks came first and it took quite a while to serve us food. Despite no racks for the afternoon tea set, the presentation was actually ok with very pretty tableware!

Homemade plain and raisin scones with clotted cream and jam
The scones smelt super great when served. Having lifted our expectations, they were just so-so taste-wise. The texture was ok because of the slightly crispy crust and they were not easy to break apart. But taste-wise, I found them a bit too plain, not sweet or buttery enough. The clotted cream didn't help much although it was smooth, as it was a bit too tasteless. There were two small pots of jam which were strawberry and orange marmalade. I tried a bit of the orange marmalade jam which couldn't help much. Eventually I had to finish the scones with the chocolate sauce for the Belgium waffle. Almost forgot to mention, the scones were quite small in size.

Savories were pretty good (from left to right in the front row)
Turkey, Cranberry Jelly, White Bread: Refreshing cranberry jelly
Crab Meat, Lobster Mayo, Lemon Caviar, Dark Bread: The lobster mayo basically masked the flavours of everything else but it was tasty.
Blue Cheese Tart, Pear, Walnut: It had crunchy tart base and the blue cheese was not overly salty. The crispy walnut also added some texture to it. Delicious.
Smoked Salmon, Avruga Caviar, Baby Asparagus, Sour Cream, Brioche: It looked so elaborate! Refreshing taste-wise.

Sweets were even better!
Matcha Opera was the least good among all because it was obviously not elaborate enough compared with all those nicely made cakes at top-notch cake shops but I think it was a pass.
Yuzu Mandarin Tart was pretty refreshing although it didn't seem to be really a tart.
Strawberry Cheese Cake was very delicious with a crunchy base at the bottom.
Tanzanie Chocolate had a full ball of chocolate lava sauce inside.

Homemade plain waffle with chocolate sauce and sprinkles
I suspect that the waffle wasn't actually that plain because they were a bit sweet, which was the right degree of sweetness in my opinion. The waffles were crispy enough, although not one of those super crispy types. They were not so warm when served. They went super well with the cold vanilla ice-cream which unfortunately was melting quite fast. The chocolate sauce was tasty too. The offering of some berries was also appreciated.

A drink was included in the set. We ordered our favourite chocolate which was not on the menu. The chocolates were a pass, as there were too many big ice cubes so there was actually not much chocolate in the big glass. We quickly finished them off.
Environment was nice with modern interior decoration and enough room among tables for some quiet chat. Service could have been better though as the male server who served us could have worn a better smile on his face (was I too demanding? But it was a hotel after all?). Given the relatively good food quality (except for the scones), I would say it was worth trying.
