这间餐厅在日本北海道颇有名气。我一直留意着香港店(第一间海内店)何时开幕。有天假日经过见到终于开业,门口有极多人排队于是决定下次再试。似乎在平日订位则没有任何问题。

店内装修新潮优雅,既有大量沙发位,亦有适合较多人的大台和单人的面壁位。

I have had my eyes on this restaurant for a long time. It is said that this is a rather famous tempura specialist from Hokkaido. Hong Kong is its first overseas branch.

食物选择方面,种类繁多。原以为主打天妇罗,但非天妇罗的选择反而更多。例如炉端烧,刺身,烧牛肉和多款锅物等都有。很多是来自北海道的菜色。当然,这样令我有轻微担心他们是否真的主打天妇罗,会否是「周身刀,冇张利」。

这店暂时没有卖酒牌照。但看过他们的酒牌,酒水选择好像不错。

我们点了炸八爪鱼作前菜,一客十胜和牛铁板烧套餐,一客豪华刺身拼盘,另加半份马粪海胆大拖罗

Contrary to my initial expectation, they had a rather comprehensive menu which had of course tempura, plenty of seafood hotspots, tonkatsu/beef steak sets, set dinners, robotayaki and a fairly extensive sashimi menu. (Please check the separate menu photographs.)

炸八爪鱼虽然颇为香口,但质地有点韧。只属普通。

Fried tako: It was crispy but oily and the texture was a bit tough. Not an impressive start I'm afraid.

豪华刺身拼盘内有带子,三文鱼,大拖罗,左口鱼,赤身和大虾。老实说,在「豪华」拼盘内看到三文鱼其实已会令人进入戒备状态。每款都有四片或四件, 份量方面确是不能挑惕,有同行的家人觉得不错。但较咀刁的我们觉得除了带子和赤身较为有点鲜味之外,其他则鲜味不突出, 大拖罗甚至有轻微雪藏味。太太觉得刺身切得太大块,刀功亦有改善空间。

The deluxe assorted sashimi had scallops, ootoro, salmon, engawa, shrimps and akami. To be honest, we were a bit suspicious the moment we saw salmon in the set. Top marks for quantity but a bit lacking with regard to quality. Other than the scallops and akami, the rest didn't have much umami. I suspect because those were kept in the freezer for too long. The way the ootoro and salmon pieces were cut was too thick and not convenient for eating.

分开点的马粪寿司和大拖罗亦有同样问题。这两样刺身鲜度不足,性价比低,扣了很多分。

The half Bakufun uni ($450) and the four extra pieces of Ootoro ($280) also had the same problem. This significantly dragged the points down for this restaurant.

之后我们要求将虾头处理。可以选择煮汤或炸,我们选择了后者。炸出来的效果不错,帮自己补一下钙质。

You could request for either prawn miso soup or deep fried prawn heads. We asked for the latter. Those were decent enough.

十胜和牛铁板定食(大致是这样叫法吧) :份量相当丰富。十胜豚就较为牛肉有名气。听说牛肉肉质较为结实,牛肉味突出,算是不错的。跟餐还有刺身, 美味的釜饭和白身鱼汤。这套餐性价比很不错。赞。

Jukatsu beef set: The set was substantial, with a big bowl of kamameshi (pot steamed rice with shoyu, mirin, chicken meat and various types of fungi), a lovely bowl of fish stew, assorted sashimi and of course, beef.

My wife thought the beef was a bit tough but the beef taste was very pronounced. $350 for this very filling set is definitely a pretty good deal.

其实在这阶段,家人已经相当饱。但我坚持点天妇罗,因为我觉得在天妇罗专门店不点天妇罗有点浪费和可笑。排除万难之后,我点了「天妇罗七点盛」。

幸好结尾一道菜不负众望,七点天妇罗工有两只大虾,鳕场蟹脚,带子,青椒,茄子和冬菇。炸浆松化,味道很不错。我一向认为天妇罗点盐比点汁更能带出食物的鲜味,尤其是海鲜。但这里没有提供盐,这绝对是应该改善的地方。

这里的天妇罗不及香港天妇罗一哥「天海」或「一宝」那么令人惊艳,但以这里的价钱和质素来说,绝对比很多同类型提供天妇罗日本餐厅(例如刚吃过的三笠屋)优胜。

My family members were pretty full at this time but I insisted in ordering tempura. It would seem pretty odd if we hadn't order tempura at a tempura specialist.

I ordered the 7 seasonal tempura set. It had one taraba crab leg, two shrimps, scallops, shishito, shiitake and egg plant. The tempura batter was crispy yet not too oily. Even though it may not be as good as established tempura specialists such as Tenkai and Ippou, it is still far better than similarly priced Japanese restaurants, Mikazaya, for example. We were happy with the tempura.

I prefer dipping tempura in salt than in sauce. I believe salt brings out the umami of food better than shoyu, especially seafood tempura. They really should provide salt to customers.

总结:
虽然刺身一般,但既然是新店,店方可能还未完全掌握刺身的消耗量和应入货的份量。我相信过多一会,这问题便可解决,因为看得出店方很有诚意做好的。

和牛铁板烧定食性价比高,天妇罗亦不负众望,同样性价比不错。店内所有职员都很殷勤有礼。这店很有潜质,绝对可以一试。番吃机会很高。

纯以食物和性价比我给这店75分 (应是OK脸), 但由于是新店, 给笑脸以作鼓励。

The bill came down to about $600 per head. Even though the sashimi weren't that impressive, I'm sure the situation will improve in due course as soon as the restaurant understands the average customer's consumption pattern of sashimi so they won't order too much at any given period.

Having said that, value of the sets is reasonable. There is certainly room for improvement with the tempura but considering the price and the quality, it's still pretty good.

75/100 is "OK" on my normal scale. But since this restaurant is so new, and because of the friendly staff members. I would give this place a smiling face. Worth a try.
