came here for dinner with mom at around 8pm. didn't have to wait for a table, the waiter led us right in. after we sat down, the waiter gave us the bread basket and 2 servings of appetizer. it was bacon quiche i believe. i personally dont have a thing for bacon, so i didn't really like it, but the custard's pretty smooth.
since we're not really hungry, we skipped starter. for main course i ordered duck confit, and since my mom's on a special diet she had the chef taylor-make her an panfried linguine with vegetables.
my dish came with a salad. it was pretty fresh.
my duck confit was pretty good. it's just right - not too dry. the potato at the bottom is not mashed like usual; instead, they're crispy hash browns. yummy
and for some reason i really liked the two cherry tomatoes on the side..
my mom's linguine was just alright. nothing extraordinary about it. in fact it was a bit too oily. when she's done eating there's still a considerable amount of olive oil remaining on her plate... my mom joked that it's enough for making another dish xD
i was already pretty full, and already wayy over my calorie intake for the day (since i had hui lau shan and the taiyaki crispy sandwich thing after i had lunch...) but i still failed to resist the temptation of dessert
i ordered the chocolate grand marnier cake (christmas cake). i knew it's going to be good just by looking at the devilish dark chocolate coating on the outside...
right after the waiter brought me my dessert, i could not wait a second longer to take a bite. dark chocolate coating on the outside, chocolate + grand marnier mousse and chocolate sponge cake on the inside. smooth, rich, and like i had expected, simple delicious.
as i was enjoying the sinfully rich chocolate grand marnier mousse, something frizzled on my tongue. it was gone after a second. and it came again when i took another bite of the mousse. could it be? yes, i believe so. it was --- 爆炸糖!! coke flavored i believe. the chef only put in a small amount in the center, and it went surprisingly well with the taste and texture of the rest of the cake. this pleasant little surprise made me love this christmas cake even more
oh, a little side story here: when we were eating our main courses, people around us started applauding all of a sudden. we looked and saw that at a table a guy was on his knees, proposing to his girlfriend.
and she said yes.
congratulations to them!
