Saw many good reviews on this famous old Chiuchow restaurant so decided to give it a try last evening. 5 of us arrived at 7pm under very heavy rain, and a staff standing outside was kind enough to shield us one by one from our car with an umbrella, thought that was excellent service The decoration inside is decidedly old fashion, it was like stepping back to the 70's, But the place is clean and pleasant nevertheless. The decoration inside is decidedly old fashion, it was like stepping back to the 70's, But the place is clean and pleasant nevertheless. Service is also old fashioned but friendly, most of the waiting staff look pretty elderly but service is still efficient. Adding tea and changing plates was more frequent than some expensive restaurants.
We only ordered normal household Chiuchow dishes, nothing fancy nor expensive. (卤水鹅肉并鹅掌, 菊花石榴鸡, 普宁炸豆腐, 煎蚝烙, 半煎煮马友鱼, 糯米酿大肠, 反沙芋, 白果芋泥). They all tasted good and the portions were generous. The bill came to just over $600 which was lower than expected. Will definitely come back again with friends.
