As an egg fanatic I couldn't help but to try out Morihachi Kitchen Tamago 盛八食堂 when I heard that they opened a store in CWB, despite its mediocre reputation at the Tuen Mun shop. So I called up my friend for a very quick simple lunch. A short review here:Hayashi Beef Omelet Rice ハヤシ牛肉の赤ワイン煮ライス (牛肉滑蛋盖饭)The beef was quite tender and demi glace-like sauce had enough flavor, though less depth and complexitiy compared to Izumi Curry or Hidden Kitchen. Hayashi Beef Omelet Rice
ハヤシ牛肉の赤ワイン煮ライス (牛肉滑蛋盖饭) The beef was quite tender and demi glace-like sauce had enough flavor, though less depth and complexitiy compared to Izumi Curry or Hidden Kitchen. It was more on the sweet side. Rice wasn't too soft in texture and tomato flavor was adequate.
For lunch set you can get a free drink when you order a main dish. We ordered iced lemon tea. Not much flavor...
Deep Fried Italian Herbs Chicken and Omelet with Parmesan cheese sauce
鶏もも扬げたパルメザンチーズ鉄板オムレツ (帕尔马芝士吉列香草地鸡鉄板奄列) When you ordered a teppan omelet dish it came with a brioche-like bread and butter Omelet wasn't overcooked but without runny or creamy center and was weak in egg flavor. The cheese and cream sauce was rather bland as well. Fried chicken was ok. The bread and butter was just so so. Nothing to write home about. Overall, the hayashi rice was better than the teppan omelet yet lacking in sauce flavor and egg texture when compared head to head with Izumi Curry or Hidden Kitchen. It is cheaper though and with more choices (a great selection of appetizers). If I am going for omelet rice I will still go back to Izumi Curry or Hidden Kitchen, but I will come here for their snacks and appetizers (also very egg-centric)
