I requested a window table, which they were unable to confirm on spot because '... window seats/tables would be assigned according to the request list..." When we arrived the place till we finised the dinner, there were only TWO tables (including ours) in the whole evening. Why couldnt' H ONE confirm my window table request when I made the reservation, but painting me a picture that their window seats/tables were already over-booked? 何解要甘作状?
Price
They charged beef carpaccio at HKD328 Frankly speakly I reckon it is charged higer than some hotel restaurants, especially the dish was the smallest I had ever come across.
Food quality
1. It is not impressive any more.
2. The tuna I ordered was way over-cooked. I could not stand it and lodged a complaint. They were very nice to offer me a new dish 'Dover Sole'. However, i was proudly told that the sauce was made from foie gras (?!) I went for fish and did not expect anything "poulty" or "meaty" to go with my dish... there they had this strange sauce to go with fish. I tried two pieces and was very sorry that i had to give the dish up. 真系好难食品 My feeling was they were using the strong flavour of the foie gras sauce to cover up the tasteless fish.
3. My friend ordered Roasted Pigeon and he did not find it impressive as well. The pigeon was covered with something very sweet that one would not be able to tell if the pigeon was good.
4. The seafood soup my friend ordered was tasty.
5. The first basket of bread was slightly stale. So when they asked us for comments of the food (during the fish instance), I also mentioned about the bread. They later brought us another basket which was freshly baked and very good - why couldnt they do it the first time right?
6. The only thing was the side dish mushroom.
The offered us complimentary dessert as a token of apology for the two fish which i did not find them right. The staff are very nice and sincere in offering the dessesrt as 'compensation', but my dinner was already spoilt. I felt so embarrassed bringing my guest there.
When I was home, I texted my ex-boss immediately to apologize because few months back I recommended this place to him. He did not appear as impressive as I expected the following morning after the dinner... and then I finally knew why (but after all these months!)
Heard that the chef was gone... I guess that explains why there were only two tables during the evening i went, not to mention the size of the restaurant had been cut down by half at least!
I dont think I would be going back... 好可惜... unless they brought their level back to where they used to be.
