I love tomato soup based noodles. That's probably why I was pretty interested in this place when we walked by as it was called Tomato 18 with loads of photos of tomato soup noodles. The interior was decorated with various retro Hong Kong favorites to make it look like you were eating out on the street.Menu is in English and Chinese. They have a create your own bowl of noodles along with other cha chan teng classic dishes. We decided to create our own. You choose the soup base. All comes with a s
I had the Rich Tomato Soup with Signature Swiss Chicken Leg ($55). The chicken leg was marinaded very well but sadly the meat was a not too juicy. A bit on the dry side. The portion size of the noodles were very large. But the soup was disappointing. Tomato wasn't intense in flavour. A bit watered down and bordering on the very sweet side. I think they just added lots of sugar. The egg was made with milk so it was a very creamy in taste. Boyfriend ordered the Rich Tomato Soup with Beef ($43). It was the same as mine except beef was placed in it. The beef was ok. Soft enough without really needing to chew. His soup was astoudingly better than mine. Thicker and more tomato taste.
As we had ordered pretty much the same thing, it's obviously inconsistent. Service is really pushy. They literally stand next to you, pen in hand waiting for you to order when you just sat down and haven't even looked at the menu yet. I doubt we go back.
