Meeting boyfriend for lunch in Sheung Wan, we came across a place called Friday Cafe & Wine Bar. I saw on the menu they offered 3D latte art coffee so I was super interested. Thus, boyfriend agreed to give it a try.The place was not that bit. There were wine bottles on one side and a number of Marvel collectibles on the other. I guess the owner really loves Iron Man. The place did start to fill up and it seemed every one there were regulars as the staff seemed to know them all.Menu is in English
The place was not that bit. There were wine bottles on one side and a number of Marvel collectibles on the other. I guess the owner really loves Iron Man. The place did start to fill up and it seemed every one there were regulars as the staff seemed to know them all.
Menu is in English and Chinese. They offer general Western fare: pizza, pasta, all day breakfasts.
They also offer 3D latte coffee and what I was interested in. The whole reason I wanted to come here.
Of course, they have other drinks along with a decent beer and wine selection.
On the wall they had a sign showing what coffee beans they used so there is no mystery there.
Boyfriend wanted a beer and ordered a Pauwel Kwak ($60). Light, not too bitter and smooth tasting. He was a bit surprised it was served in it's own beer display.
When I went to order the 3D latte art, they staff informed me the barista had the day off. I was so distraught. The whole reason I came was for this! SLost on what to order, I decided on Passion Fruit, Wild Berry and Hibiscus Ice Tea ($42). Luckily this was really good. A strong berry and hibiscus taste. Sweet and sour at the same time.
Since we came here for food, we decided to share an appetizer and a main. This is the Chicken Wings with Mentaiko ($108). Stuffed with lots of mentaiko, the bones from the thigh part of the wings were removed. The spicy umami taste mixed well with the sweet sticky chicken marinade. Quite addictive.
We also had a Napoletana Sausage Pizza ($128). The crust was very thin. Almost like a biscuit. It was topped with lots of sausage. I could see there was at least three different kinds. There were lots of black olives, a good smear of tomato sauce with bell peppers and chunks of tomatoes. All with a really nice gooey mozzarella cheese. It was just packed with toppings.
The service was friendly. I can see why they had regulars as they treated them like friends. The food was decent. A restaurant felt cosy and more like a good place for a drink and a place to chat. Hopefully next time I'm back, I can try the 3D latte art.
