Ah...a new cha chan teng has opened in the Causeway Bay area. Called Milk Cafe, it's located right behind Times Square. The restaurant is cutely designed with various milk bottles all over. However, seating is a bit cramped as the space isnt very big.Menu is in English and Chinese with photos of all the food. There is no 10% service charge and you pay on your way out. Menu is in English and Chinese with photos of all the food. There is no 10% service charge and you pay on your way out. They have all day sets and during dinner time, they have dinner sets. All include a drink. I noticed they had some items not commonly found in other cha chan tengs. Like a cheese filled pineapple bun and red bean paste on French toast. I'll have to come back for that!
Boyfriend had the Curry Beef Brisket with Rice ($60). This was REALLY spicy. Even boyfriend felt it was super spicy and had to ask for more water. But the beef was tender though his mouth was on fire. Portion was generous with a lot of sauce.
I had the Chicken Wing in Swiss Sauce with Stirred Fried Fuku Instant Noodles, Garlic Butter on Toast and Scrambled Eggs ($54). The garlic toast was ok. Crispy toast with lots of garlicky butter. The eggs also had a strong buttery taste as well. And so creamy. More creamy than the usual cha chan teng scrambled egg. It felt more like Western scrambled eggs.
The chicken wings were ok. Not as deeply flavored as it looks. But large in size and juicy. I didn't like the instant noodles used. Was too thin and too soft. There was a generous amount of sauce which was appreciated.
Overall, the food was ok. Portion was large especially for the Causeway Bay location. As it was new, it was very clean. Would be back if there is no line.
