I was excited about going to Yumemiya today for lunch with my colleague. I saw the place a week ago and I told her that we should go there. I had a good experience at the branch in ISQUARE. When we went inside, the waitress just asked us to sit down at one table without furthering serving us with water. When we went inside, the waitress just asked us to sit down at one table without furthering serving us with water. There were already menus on the table, we asked for a la carte menu as I wanted to have Chicken and Eggs Rice Bowl.
One of the waitresses just answered us briefly that they only have lunch set, a la carte menu starts after 2:30p.m. while she was delivering food for another table.
We then chose two items from the menu. When the food came, I was so disappointed, my rice bowl was just with some chicken on top and LOTS of rice, it does not even come with any condiments and it costs $67 plus service charge. I ate the chicken, it actually tasted like pork meat, so I had to ask the server if that was chicken, they reconfirmed it is. It must be from a frozen chicken meat which was not defrozen well and cooked right away.
My colleague ordered a a curry pork meat rice with a set of soup and drink. The soup is basically from can and the curry was so simple, it only has those fatty pork meat and curry sauce, a small pile of radish. The set came with drink, it costs $87If we wanted to drink Matcha which is one of the highlights there, add another $10 or so for different kinds.
The last thing I need to say is the service, it is basically like a Hong Kong Tea house, staff responded quickly without any explanation and their attitude was not very good. Many people were waving at the waitresses to ask for service, but it seems they were short of staff and could not handle the situation very well.
All in all, it is like a fast food chain quality, actually even some fast food stores are even better than them, but they are charging medium to high end Japanese restaurant price.
I don't think I will come back again!
