This very traditional dai pai dong is obviously famous for their beef balls - served in a rich broth with a hint of dried mandarin peel, with your choice of noodles. There are some optional extras as well: beef tripe, brisket or tendon. I go for the lot - the broth is really f***ing good. We were lucky enough to be staying around the corner - this ended up being our go-to breakfast spot.

There are no English signs or menus. I speak basic Cantonese but I can’t read it, and I don’t know the names of very many dishes (growing up, mum always took care of the food ordering). If you’re lucky, you might get a server who can speak English, if not, pointing also works. To explain to the server what we wanted to order, we pointed to our elbow joint for tendon and stomach for tripe - which seemed to actually work because the right dishes arrived at our table
