It's been a while since I've been back to Yu Chuan club and for me the quality wasn't the same as before. The menu is certainly extensive and includes a few unusual items that you won't normally see in the Sichuan restaurants in Hong Kong, such aswater boiled frog!
I am normally accustomed to the oilyness of Sichuan food but the problem tonight was that it was just too oily and lacking the fragrance you would get from the sichuan peppers. The water boiled beef we had was rather bland which was super disappointing... one big benefit is that you can get refills of the water boiled in chili oil dishes... So you really can get your monies worth in that sense but the portion sizes are generous anyway so you will be leaving absolutely stuffed...
What was also disappointing was the twice fried pork - this is a classic dish and for me the pork belly was slicked too thick and so had a real chew to the texture. Mapo Tofu was also lacking flavour and spice.
Overall real shame as this place used to be much better and more "authentic" with the flavours...
