My friend and I came upon Les Fils à Maman with pretty high expectation and it didn't disappoint! We stopped by on a Monday before and the restaurant was closed so we decided to try on another day. I walked by the restaurant before and saw someone had this full plateful of fries with a full casserole pot of meat, and that image just stuck to my mind, that I must try it! I ordered a fish chowder as starter, it tasted a little (just a little) fishy, kind of like Chinese fish soup (in terms of the texture) but with served with two small croutons I added some pepper and it tastes better. It's served with a small bucket of bread. The bread tastes a bit tough, but of very good substance. My main dish is Plat du jour - boeuf bourguignon and frites maison. Wow! I mean, WOW! That plateful of golden brown fries! The casserole pot of beef is so plentiful! The pot looks small, but it contains so much beef that was very well cooked for 5 hours! The meat is so tender with the suitable amount of fat, filled with very rich red wine sauce. At the bottom of the pot there was some white button mushroom slides. I almost got drunk enjoying this dish! My friend ordered a fish dish Sorry I forgot the name, but it's also quite good. The fish is coated with a layer of cheesy crumbs, served with some mash potato, potato, and salad. All in all, it was a fantastic experience. We were the first ones to arrive the restaurant and by the time we left, there was another table of 3 sitting by the window. The restaurant tables are placed quite close to each other but when it's almost all to yourself, you can really really enjoy the interesting interior decor and the easy-going ambience. They have some nice music playing during the whole time. I'll definitely go back again!
