When locust tunghok and I arrived at this small, "up dup" Japanese restaurant in Hung Hom, I didn't have much expectation towards the quality of the food here, especially that I was a bit annoyed that we had to wait outside (yup they didn't open until like quarter past 6). After looking at the menu, expectations were even lower -- at $38 / $48 per dish in a Japanese restaurant, what would you expect? But then, I was soon proven to be utterly wrong by the quality of the food here.First to arrive
But then, I was soon proven to be utterly wrong by the quality of the food here.
First to arrive was the 鳗鱼饭 (well, after the miso soup, that is). Before even eating I knew that this 鳗鱼饭 is worthy of every single cent of the $48 which we were charged for it. Then, came the tempura, the 清酒煮蚬, the Japanese style fried egg and the 烧鸡泡鱼干 -- all at a budget price and all tasted much better then their prices suggest.
To cut things short -- for those who like cooked Japanese food, 三河屋 is a must eat!
P.S. Don't expect a very comfortable environment though. To say that 三河屋 is a bit crowded is an understatement.
