my original plan was actually to visit café O for its all-day breakfast (craved for a good big meal since the night before lol) then barista jam for my favourite cappuccino and one of its lovely cakes. turns out café O on queen's road is being renovated. /. .\so... plan b activated: coco espresso, here i come!* * * * * *had a good fight with the sliding door before walking into the place. didn't have time to take in the space (as i usually do) though. cos it was already two and i still haven't h
so... plan b activated: coco espresso, here i come!

had a good fight with the sliding door before walking into the place. didn't have time to take in the space (as i usually do) though. cos it was already two and i still haven't had my brunch, i was really hungry. so once i got in my eyes just ran down the room looking for menus for food, spotted them on the counter, took one of them and just glanced through it for my all-day breakfast.
i ordered only my meal first cos i wanted to have my cappuccino hot with the dessert. i sat down at the other end of the café and looked around. it was a narrow rectangular space with some stools against the table by the wall and one 4-person table (where i was sitting). prolly cos it was small, it felt really lively with just a few customers in. with the group of two on the stools, one was teaching the other cantonese. and one of the baristas (who seemed to be the boss from the observation later) was talking animatedly with a customer about coffee... it was nice.
around 15 minutes later, my weight watcher's special (delightful name ) landed in front of me! the look of it alone was happifying, with the smoked salmon, the scrambled egg and the brown toasts.
all-day breakfasts are always very fulfilling to me cos there are different foods on that one big plate. this one was no exception - once i started, i just ate and ate (along with modern family lol) till i finished the whole thing.
moreover, i thought the price ($70) was quite attractive cos from my experience, most all-day breakfasts in the city are priced well over that.
as a side note, the barista who took my order, after i started digging in, brought me a glass of water (as i still had not ordered any beverage at that point) - how very thoughtful of her! really appreciated it.
after my meal, i went to order my cappuccino. when i asked what cakes they had, one barista chipped in and particularly mentioned their homemade banana bread (which i had at their wanchai branch and disliked -v-)! with that warm recommendation, i decided to give it a second chance.
my cappuccino arrived first. nice latte art. oh and i really liked the brown colour of the coffee cup.
sad to say though, this cappuccino was not quite as good as the one i had at their wanchai branch cos this was not as frothy (thin layer) and the foam was not dense enough. the coffee beneath was not as strong as i would like it to be. the size of it, however, was good.
in short, this cappuccino did not quite live up to my expectation but i'd say, is still above average.
will try their famous flat white next time!
then came the banana bread. this one was less browned than the one i had at their wanchai branch, which is good. this was therefore more moist; yet still too dry for my liking. think i'm done with it once and for all. lol
(ah and there's the glass of water i mentioned.)

as i left, the seemed-to-be-boss barista said goodbye to me, which affirmed my impression of the place as suggested by my title - a very friendly place, to which i shall return for food, coffee and some time solo!
