Ever since Kennedy town MTR has opened, the whole F&B scene has awoken. Rows of cafes and restaurants has opened and has become a hip area. Yakiniku Shichirin is a Japanese grilled meat restaurant that is quite famous back in their home country. There is always long queue forming outside in Japan. Since it was so convenient located, just 1 minute walk from Kennedy Town MTR I decided to pay them a visit.Just for their lunch menu, it was very comprehensive. Just for their lunch menu, it was very comprehensive. Their grilled selection are mostly Wagyu beef. For those not interested in grill meat, there is also udon and rice set to choose from.
The grill tray is quite standard in a way that there is a smoke absorber at the top so that diners will not feel uncomfortable at those smoke circling around.
Cream soda – It was a typical soft drink, gassy and refreshing. It was just the perfect drink to go with the grill meat.
A small tray was provided with lemon, sliced onion and BBQ sauce in it. It brings out the flavour of the meat when dipped.
Salad was fresh and crunchy. Soup was tasty with beancurd cubes in it.
I was quite surprised that we were served with half egg as I assume it was not part of the lunch set. The egg is soft and tasty.
A5 Wagyu chuck rib set – Since this set is in limited supply, I decided to choose this. I can choose between roasted meat sauce and salt, so I decided to go for salt. A5 Wagyu is the highest class of Japanese beef and has superior marbling. This intense marbling is what gives the beef its unique tenderness or savory flavor. It was very flavourful, moist and tender and it goes well with the rice.
