Under the capable direction of Chef Roland Schuller, Octavium is a Michelin two-starred Italian restaurant which emphasizes on pertinent simplicity with the finest of ingredients. We ordered the four-course daily menu (💰$900), which contained some hits and misses. Below are some of the dishes that we reveled. .Red Prawn Linguine (supplement $280)This was the calling card of this restaurant. Red Prawn Linguine (supplement $280)
This was the calling card of this restaurant. All the condensed essences within the prawn head was squirted onto the glistening strands of linguine. The tomatoes further accentuated the freshness with their hallmark acidic zing. Together with the immaculately executed red prawn, every bite was an explosion of savory.
.
Uni Tortelloni (supplement $180)
The euphoria continued with another seafood-based pasta. The combination of fish broth and uni, together with the uplifting fragrances of greens was otherworldly. It was further amped up with the pieces of fried garlic on top, which added some textural contrasts and punch to the dish.
.
Miyazaki Beef
It was melt-in-the-mouth tender, enlivened by the earthiness of thinly-sliced fungi. The real showstopper however, was the layer of carbs underneath. The rice sponged up all the beef juices, making it sinfully addictive.
.
Amuse Bouche
The ham and cheese stuffed balls were packed with pungent yet comforting flavors, leaving our tastebuds crave for more.
.
Soufflé
The chef, by some extraordinary alchemy, managed to make this an ethereal delight that does not deflate. Only with extreme decision could this be achieved.
.
Verdict
Food here indubitably lived up to its hype, but sadly, not the service. There were nothing remarkly wrong, but servers were just not attentive and professional as other counterparts with similar price range. But this aside, our tastebuds and stomachs certainly did revel the meal.
