On the weekend, boyfriend and I decided to check out the weekend markets found at D2 Place. Feeling a little hungry, we went across the street and had something to eat at Pho Tai. Pho Tai is a typical local style Vietnamese restaurant usually found in shopping centers. That is probably why I've never eaten in one.During afternoon tea time, they had a tea set menu. Boyfriend ordered the set of noodle plus snack for $46. He chose the lemongrass pig neck pork noodle in cold vermicelli. Yeah, I don't know why they stressed that the pork neck was from the pig. The noodle sauce was not provided on the table like other places but served in a bowl. It was also a bit on the spicy side which is a bit odd for Vietnamese food. The meat was ok but a bit overdone with the lemongrass.
It also came with a snack so boyfriend ordered springrolls. These were a bit on the greasy side and there wasn't much filling.
I had the snack platter. For $35, you get a Vietnamese salami with papaya salad and choice of two snacks. After noticing that everything was fried, I chose lemongrass chicken wings and lemongrass pork chop. The salad had no acidity. It was just more on the spicy side. The chicken wings had way too much lemongrass on it. But at least it was not overcooked and still juicy. The pork chop were seriously dry.
The food was definitely cheap. But tastewise, it wasn't that great. I honestly wouldn't be back.
