I haven't had a chance to travel for a long time and I miss Japanese food so much. We’re lucky to be born in the food paradise where we can get whatever cuisine we want. I’ve seen Izakaya by K on many different social media platforms lately and I’ve been wanting to try it out! The restaurant is located in Block 1 of The Parkside, Tseung Kwan O and it’s pretty convenient by public transport and driving. You’d see loads of cute foxes of different sizes all around the izakaya, reminding me of the gorgeous Inari Shrine (just so you know, the fox is the messenger of Inari). The restaurant is divided into different sections and we were seated in one of the booths that were separated with a long piece of cloth, giving much sense of privacy.

As for the food, we were told that they’re promoting some special dishes to celebrate the upcoming Mother’s Day so we decided to try them out. Both sakura-themed dishes were great, and I like the flower-shaped salmon roll that is in a beautiful light pink color. The salmon was fresh and shari was at the right temperature and unity

Here comes the highlight of the night, the sukiyaki with A4 wagyu beef. The portion was generous and there were 5-6 huge pieces if wagyu beef which tasted delicious! I also ordered a bowl of rice to go with the sukiyaki as the broth might sometimes be a bit overpowering.

As for the sides, we tried the grilled beef tongue, chicken skin, chicken sticks etc and we enjoyed all of them. I highly recommend the dumplings as well which were tasty and of the right size for a normal bite.
hkfoodtour’s official verdict: The meal at Izakaya by K perfectly satisfied my craving for Japan🇯🇵 I’d settled for that for now and I hope the pandemic will end soon so we get to travel again!
