A sudden trip to Cheung Chau led me to this well-known fish ball place. I've visited once 2 years ago, but for some reason I can't recall what I had at all. Environment & Hygiene:This place is pretty near the pier, and should be quite easy to find. It's a pretty big place that occupies about the space of three stores. You know they're the top selling place for "balls". Although they don't offer seating, there is a bench nearby, where around 4-5 people can sit. All the skewers are left sitting

This place is pretty near the pier, and should be quite easy to find. It's a pretty big place that occupies about the space of three stores. You know they're the top selling place for "balls". Although they don't offer seating, there is a bench nearby, where around 4-5 people can sit. All the skewers are left sitting out in the open, but since all the skewers are deep-fried whether you like it or not, whatever bacteria would be killed in the high heat oil I guess.
The service was surprisingly good maybe because the staff who helped us was friendly and actually had a smile on her face when we ordered. We ordered a total of 3 times and each time she had a smile. Thank you. Also, I like that they wrap a piece of paper towel around each skewer.
Taste & Value:
My friend heard good things about their tofu puff skewer stuffed with shrimp($10), but the last time she visited, they were out so we made sure we'd be able to try it today. If I remember correctly, this was the cheapest skewer available and also the best in my opinion. Although it was deepfried, it didn't taste that greasy. It was nice and crunchy, but not hard, and the filling was deliciously chewy. I was surprised by how good it tasted.
Final Verdict:
I miss the tofu puff skewer already. This is a must go place if you go to Cheung Chau.
