We went to Basmati for dinner on a Sat night. The restaurant was very easy to spot and located on the 1st floor of a building just next to the MTR station. When I go to Indian restaurants in HK, I usually order the same few dishes such as butter chicken and samosa (due to my limited knowledge😅). I am glad that the staff here have recommended a lot of their signature dishes which I have never tried. 🥭Mango Lassi $36 The drink is very well balanced with mango, yogurt and sweetener. 🥭Mango Lassi $36
The drink is very well balanced with mango, yogurt and sweetener. I like it as it is not too sweet.
🥗Masala Papadams $21
I often eat Papadams in Indian restaurants but this is the 1st time for me to eat a Papadam with Masala on the top. This starter has to be eaten in 3 mins for it to remain crispy. The spice on the top makes it very appetizing.
🥔Potato Cakes $78
The potato cakes are freshly deep fried and quite filling. There are 4 pieces and we need to take away 2.
🦪 Oyster (6pcs) $168
The oysters are very fresh. Was not expecting good quality oysters in an Indian restaurant. What a surprise!
🍗Hariyali Chicken Tikka $88
The Chicken Tikka came on a sizzling plate and it smells so good. Chicken is well marinated and very tender. The portion is very generous.
🍛Gobi Matar $75 + Green Onion Naan $29
Gobi Matar is a vegetarian curry with fried cauliflower and peas. The dish was served with 2 big pieces of green onion naan. The curry is relatively sweet and spicy. We were too full to finish so we did take away half at the end.
Overall the food was authentic with a reasonable price. Service was impeccable too. Definitely recommended.
