It’s hard to find high quality yet affordable Singaporean food in HK, but luckily I found JOM, a cosy, cafe-like restaurant that serves up traditional Singaporean dishes with a modern touch. — Really impressed by the portion size of this! The chicken thigh was massive and deep fried to perfection! The meat was still really juicy and tender on the inside. However, I would say that the chicken could do with a bit more seasoning as it was quite bland. The rice had a nice coconut aroma to it and I loved the ikan bilis and peanuts on the side for that extra crunch.
Pic 2️⃣: Chili Crab Bun / 辣椒蟹馒头 - $88hkd 🦀
— This was so tasty! The chili crab topping was so flavourful with the perfect amount of spice to it. The mantou buns were deep fried and has a nice crunchy exterior whilst the inside was still soft and pillowy. A must order!
Pic 3️⃣: Chicken Satay / 鸡肉沙嗲串 - $88 hkd 🐔
— Pretty good chicken satay, the meat was tender but could do with a bit of extra time on the grill to get that nice charcoal aroma. The star was definitely the peanut sauce which was insanely rich and complemented the chicken really well.
Pic 4️⃣: Turnip Cake / 萝卜糕 - $78 hkd
— Another very flavourful dish 🤤 I personally thought the turnip cake was a bit too soft and couldn’t really hold its shape well. Other than that, the seasoning and flavours were on point. The dried shrimp added a lovely aroma to it whilst the mild spice made the dish very addicting.
