The two of us arrived at 8.30pm and the place was not as packed as I remember it from a few years ago.We were promptly seated at a comfortable table for 4.Drinks were slow to arrive, but the generous and warm bread basket was a good distraction while waiting.We ordered the hamburger, medium rare, and the chicken wings.The waitress said that they would only serve the burger medium well done as a minimum degree of cooking, something I hate. The waitress said that they would only serve the burger medium well done as a minimum degree of cooking, something I hate. I ask to speak to the manager, who looked straight out of school, who says that it is for my safety as the beef is "dangerous". If I want rare or medium rare meat I can order the lamb, which is "safe".
Although it is not what I came to this resteraunt for, I order the lamb rack which arrives perfectly pink as requested, although at well over twice the price of the burger that I really wanted. It was presented on a bed of chopped tomato with mashed potatoes and some ordinary veg.
The chicken wings were pretty good, and served in "American" portion so we had enough for take out.
Overall a dissapointing night out. Can it really be that hard to buy decent quality beef that is not "dangerous" and that like many other steak houses and resteraunts in HK can be served rare/medium rare when requested?
