Situated at the heart of Central, being headed by the former chief of Nadaman, and highly recommended by Choi San, this restaurant certainly had the potential to be a great place for Japanese food. But after trying it for once, the impression was so bad that I probably would never come back again ... ...First, a word on the food. I didn't feel like ordering sushi / sashimi this time (in retrospect maybe a wise decision, I'll explain why later), so I just ordered a simple thing - udon in hotpot with tempura, chicken and vegetables. It cost 140 which is not cheap even for Central, and I expect it to have good quality. Turned out that the food was just ordinary - small portion (only 1 tiny piece of chicken and 1 piece of fishball, with 2 shrimp tempura and a small piece of mushroom - that's about it !) , the soup base had no taste at all, and the udon was just ordinary stuff. Quite a disappointment really......
But the real surprise came later. I sat at the sushi bar and had the good fortune of watching the chef at work. To tell the truth, I was a bit annoyed as I found that they were not professional at all - keep talking to one another, making jokes, boasting about their skill as compared to others etc.... I have visited many top notch Jap restaurants in HK and I have NEVER seen anything like this before !
But the most unbearable thing was the hygienic condition in the store - there were FLIES all over the place ! One of the sushi chef even tried to hit a fly with a piece of towel in front of the customers ... .... My goodness, I just cannot believe my eyes anymore ... ...
To those patrons who ordered sushi / sashimi, good luck to you all. For all those would-be patrons of this place, you have been warned.
