Did you just finish antique hunting on Hollywood Road and crave for a classic superb dining experience with rich onion soup, delicious seafood, hearty steaks and burgers, and lots of red and white wines to warm your pallet? The soup is outstanding -- sweet, flavorsome with a slightly caramelized taste It's a great winter warmer. We always order it (even in the heat of Hong Kong's humid summer), and it's always on the menu.
The restaurant also does a tasty lobster risotto. But what I love the most it their rendition of the classic French tarte tatin. The Press Room showcases pears instead of the more traditional apples in their tarte tatin. It's absolutely divine! Ever since my first taste of this dessert, I was hooked. I am amazed that something so simple, made from a few ingredients -- caramelized pears, flaky pastry and a tangy creme fraiche -- but done right could taste so good.
Now everytime we bring friends to The Press Room, we would snatch the dessert menu out of their hands before they could read it, telling them: “You’re ordering the tarte tatin. Trust me.” . The tarte tatin is good for sharing although I'm always tempted to pamper myself by eating it all.
Each time we have been to The Press Room, we have left happy. The service is polite, cordial and efficient! The food is amazing. I also love that The Press Room now serves brunch till 6pm on the weekends.
The restaurant's ambiance is relax and casual with a rich dark wood interiors, long banquettes and high ceiling, evoking an airy New York feel.
I highly recommend The Press Room to families and friends ready to have a delicious French meal with amazing wines!
