This dish successfully satisfied my spicy cravings with its big stake of chilli on top. The mala sauce is spicy and also addictive - even though my tongue went numb in the halfway, your hands kept going for more. The sauce is more on the salty side so it’s actually quite a good match with the fish. We’ve ordered more side dishes like tofu and enoki mushroom which both taste exceptionally challenging but appetising when fully soaked in the spicy broth.

The kind of fish it used (江团鱼) is a kind of Chinese longsnout catfish, which is usually regarded as a large-sizes economic fish. Rich in meat, still so tender and smooth even though it’s cooked for a long time. Most importantly there are no thin or small bones inside, so you won’t take long to devour the whole tasty fish!
