Its been a while since I lasted posted - I've decided to give OpenRice reviews another go after having a fabulous meal.. Do excuse my pictures as they are not taken with the best quality and I've forgotten to take a bunch of pictures as I was too excited to eat each dish right in front of me..Im a huge fan of Teppanyaki, and in Hong Kong the offerings have always been the bored and mundane type.. Im a huge fan of Teppanyaki, and in Hong Kong the offerings have always been the bored and mundane type.. You know the traditional, cook a shrimp in front of you and you have 2-3 dipping sauces to choose from, same with beef, and the bean sprouts at the end.. I was always looking for a more exciting Teppayanki and i think i've found my latest fad
The whole dinner experience was amazing, and there were many surpises throughout the meal, it was interactive with the chef, and the food was the highest quality! With teppanyaki, you cant get away with bad ingredients as everything is good right in front of you. I particularly liked to Abalone that was cooked in a butter seaweed sauce.
The scallops were a but lighter, but was nice to be able to also drink the sauce for something more soothing. The surprising factor was the foie gras and wagyu burger! I've never had a mini burger made on a teppanyaki grill topped with wasabi! The beef was fatty and flavorful, and the foie gras was a perfect combination with wasabi! Lastly, the red prawn pasta, this was particularly good as they made the red prawn pasta right in front of my eyes! They used the juices of the head to create the sauce, hence the extremely flavorful pasta! The a5 tenderloin was also really tender which i enjoyed.. The lobster and uni cream sauce was to die for! The fried bed of noodles was fried to perfect, it was light and non-oily and was perfect to soak up with uni sauce to eat.
Service was attentive, and the staff was stealth like, yet very friendly when you needed them to be.. The only downside was the pricing. Its definitely not cheap for the omakase at 1680+. Comparable with many teppanyaki, but teppanyaki is never cheap. Nothing to note about the decor, its nice. The food is what ill come back for!
