Korean Wave in Hong Kong is getting more and more unbeatable from Korean cosmetics, Korean drama, K-pop, Korean food, Korean language class, etc. All are about Korean! At first, My friend and I wanted to have dinner in one of the Korean restaurants in that street, called “Sue Korean Restaurant”. Uh Oh. Maybe we visited at peak hour of weekend, so it was packed with long waiting queues. It seems to be a wiser decision to move to another restaurant then. There is a notice on the door and stated the branch is 5-minute walk from it which locates at Energy Plaza. That’s why it brought us there.Heavenly tasty food
Indeed, my friend and I went to the same university exchange program in Korea. That’s why we want to retrieve the memories by eating Korean food and see if there is any difference between the Korean food in Hong Kong and that in Korea. The staff showed us the menu on an iPad. That’s quite high tech for viewing the details, say ingredients, price, and food preview. We ordered a Mushroom Dumpling Hotpot (蘑菇饺子锅) and Meatball in Korean style (韩式牛肉饼). They served appetizer in 6 small dishes, including some vegetables, sausage, kimchi, seasoned cucumber, sprout, and dried fish floss with unlimited refill!
For the Mushroom Dumpling Hotpot (蘑菇饺子锅), we truly underestimated the portion of it. Since the portion of the local Korean food in Korea is really huge for big group dining, I just cannot believe I can try the same portion in Hong Kong with even better taste!In the hotpot, you will find vermicelli, Korean beef, dumplings, assorted mushroom, vegetables, carrot stick in really BIG portion. I do mean it. I think it can be enough for 4 people. The soup base tastes kinda sweet which absorbs essence of all ingredients. The sweetness is like adding sugar to the pot but the fact is just the natural flavor of the food which fits Asian appetite very much!
As we can hardly finish the mushroom dumpling hotpot, we merely ate half of the Meatball in Korean style (韩式牛肉饼). To describe the size, the meatballs are as large as the palm. Each of them is divided into 4 pieces and some ricecakes are placed in between the meatballs. The meatballs are quite solid but soft inside. You can taste different kinds of meat in one bite. Again, it is also quite sweet and juicy. I can tell this succulent meatball and the mushroom dumpling hotpot are even better than the ones I have tried in Korea.Original Korean style
The boss, the staff, the utensils, cutlery, air-conditioning are all from Korea! They speak native Korean and delivered the local taste all the way from Korea. You can see the Korean characters on the utensils and the cutlery they used are all in Korean style.
Besides, they kept playing the most up-to-date K-pop music videos at the background, such as EXO, G-dragon, 2NE1 and so on. You really feel like you are eating in Korea!Extra
Some more to add on, since the boss knew that he, my friends and I went to the same university in Korea, he even treated us hite beer for free! Thank you so much! We chatted all night about the memories in that university and the culture of Hong Kong and Korea. Korean are really well known for their hospitality!
