Arrived around 6:45 pm on a Friday and was seated immediately ... That's a feat in itself! Extensive menu, though a little pricey. You could get a pasta dish for dinner for $52, but being an American who's familiar with the chain in the US, I wanted to try their pizza. I ordered a Caesar salad, a 9-inch thin-crust pepperoni pizza and a diet Pepsi. Unlike some pizza places, Shakey's doesn't charge extra for a thin crust.
Despite a busy night, the salad arrived in about three minutes. A little heavy on the grated cheese and maybe a little too light on the dressing, but the croutons were crispy, and the taste was just fine.
The pizza arrived within a few minutes of my finishing the salad. It is a thin crust, definitely. If anything, a little too thin and very crunchy. I felt as if I was eating pizza off a saltine cracker. Still, no complaints with the toppings. They did not skimp on either the cheese or the pepperoni.
But best of all was the friendly and prompt service. The young woman who took my order was very pleasant. If she had been my only server, I would have tipped her, but it was more of a team effort, and it was actually better than the food. I think they need to fix the thin, crunchy crust and go for something more like a thinner version of their regular crust. Apart from that, it was just fine.
However, the bill was a little too high for a 9-inch pizza, a salad and a drink. The diet Pepsi alone was $22! Outrageous!
