囍运冰室 (English name: Hee Wan Cafe) is like your every day cha chan teng. I was basically hungry so boyfriend said we should eat here as it seemed clean and cute. It did have cute neon signs inside with hip sayings.Menu is in English and Chinese except for the daily specials sets which is in Chinese only and found written on boards on the walls. Boyfriend had the lunch set. Curry beef brisket with rice ($55). It came with choice of soup which he chose borscht. The soup was ok. Tasted like tomato soup with some vegetables in it. The curry wasn't spicy at all. There was a lot of brisket!
I had the All Day Meal ($60). This came with udon in tomato and ox tail soup. The udon was soggy. The soup had a strong tomato taste and tasted exactly like the borscht except it was thicker. There was a few potatoes in it as wel.
It also came with scrambled egg, two sausages, hash brown, fish fillet and baked beans. The fish was really good. Fried to a nice crunch while the meat was still flaky. The egg was not over done. The greens were left untouched as they were brown in color. The sausages were pretty spicy but tasted ok.
Overall, the food was ok. Not bad at all and seriously big portions. Nothing to really drag me back for but I wouldn't say no to a return.
