My friends are interested in the Black Series and checked they offer a really good deal set menu for guests to try out their signature dishes. Menu for Black Series
We booked for their 2nd session — 20:45. Unfortunately we could only be seated at 21:05. You can imagine how HANGRY we were 😂. Good gesture they offered one extra dessert to compensate.
The menu basically cover most of their popular dishes. We really wanted to try their three yellow chicken. Only got informed it was sold out 10 minutes we placed the order.
Two of my friends are allergic to board beans. Board beans are not a common ingredients anyway so most of the restaurants can accommodate them. After placing our order for 20 minutes, nothing was served. Even the table next to us were seated later than us started eating already.
After we chased them, they finally informed us the glass noodles with the razor clams contains board beans. We were really really surprised and wonder if the kitchen had mixed up yellow beans, green beans with board beans. Anyway, they are professional. If they said there are, there are then! After some twist, we finally had our first course at 21:45.
Jade green vegetable dumpling, Blaze mushroom, Jicama, Carrot
Nothing special on the flavour. But do appreciate the thin skin and hot temperature.
“prawn toast” x okonomiyaki, Kewpie Mayonnaise, Bull-dog sauce, Cabbage, aonori
Prawn toast is great! But I prefer if the dressing is on the side instead. Reason? Everyone wants their toast crispy. Now the cabbage and dressing make the toast soaky.
Chogqing chicken wings
Pretty decant Sichuan dish. A good kick just right. My friends think it’s too spicy tho.
Deep fried squid (a la carte)
The batter is thick. Flavour is a bit blend. Cannot compare with those in “dai pai dawn”
Steamed Razor clam (+$88 each)
It’s fresh. It shouldn’t go wrong. One comment is, it’s not hot but just luke warm. Maybe just me, i like my food, especially Chinese dishes serving hot.
Kurobuta Pork Char Siu
Good seasoning. Just the cut is too lean and it’s quite dry.
This is the alternative choice for Three Yellow Chicken. Pity we ordered a bottle of red instead before they informed us the chicken was sold out. Barramundi is never my choice when I want to have steamed fish. Other than that, it’s ok.
Pandan Milk Bread French Toast, Peanut Butter, Smoked Maple Syrup, toasted coconut, coconut sorbet.
This is my favourite dish of the night! Love all the mix and match. Pandan milk bread frencg toast is crispy outside and gooey inside. Like the coconut sorbet lights the whole dessert up.
Complimentary dessert
It’s a great, fun idea to have cereal in a dessert. I wonder if it’s better using the Milo instead regular cereal.
This experience totally erased the good things happened in my last visit. I guess next time just avoid visiting in Black Series?
