This place seems like a popular one for lunch, but I guess it may just be because of the lunch set and relatively inexpensive prices for this busy business district. This place seems like a popular one for lunch, but I guess it may just be because of the lunch set and relatively inexpensive prices for this busy business district.

I ordered the Raw Beef Pho set ($49 + $5 for cold drink), and the order came out very quickly. So quickly, that I wonder whether these bowls of noodles had been pre-prepared, with the kitchen just adding hot soup.

The broth was hot and clear, however the “raw” beef had been cooked to well-done long before it reached me, and there was not the slightest shade of pink to it. The thai basil was added as several whole branches, and although generous, it was difficult to then pick the leaves off, after already being submerged in the soup. The white onion garnish was also fully cooked, possibly pre-cooked as were the mung bean sprouts, which I had expected to be fresh and refreshingly crunchy.

And perhaps the saddest part of all were the rice noodles, which lay in a mushy, soggy mess at the bottom of the bowl. No longer were they firm and silky as Pho noodles should be...the kitchen had cooked them to the point of no return, with it breaking into fragments as I tried to slurp them. In the end, I ate them using the spoon.

Not sure if this is an isolated case, but the restaurant wasn't busy when I visited, so I wonder if things might be even worse when they are under pressure.
