First of all, I must to remind all of you to make good use of their online booking system, which is already provided by Openrice. The story was, we were two stupid guys unaware of such a system. We called them like crazy trying to reserve a table but to no avail, so we decided to go straight up for a weekend lunch, ended up queuing up for two miserable hours (I arrived first so I was more miserable...). Upon approaching this restaurant, I found that they actually tuned the phone to the softest ringing sound, and even when the staff members were not busy, they did not have the slightest intention to answer the continuously ringing phone. Don't be a fool like us. They are just like your ex who no longer wants to bother with you. Just don't call him (her) anymore!

Decoration here was thoughtful, with different interesting stuff placed here and there, creating a colorful little world that feels like small shops in Taiwan and Japan. Coupled with large glass windows, light just came in inviting nice photo taking. The menu was also designed with heart, having many interesting dish names (quite colloquial and Hong Kong style), and the artistic effects were very nice. However, while queuing up and admiring the decorations here, I began to feel the special features of the waiters.

For the waiters, I compare them to civil servants. They were polite and patient as peaceful doves, but they also had rather rigid rules. For example, when I was waiting for my seat, there were several other waiting guests standing at the narrow space. Although there were a few empty seats, they were not offered to us because someone else made bookings, leaving us standing packed at the door. The waiter asked the waiting guests not to stand in the "middle", but in fact the space was so limited and there was actually nowhere else to stand. They gave me the impression that they worked under stringent rules. Even if the objective situation did not enable other solutions, they just repeatedly tell you not to do this and that. We all understood their situation, but we could only step aside whenever someone needed to pass by, until we finally got a seat.

When we placed the order, the waiters once again reminded me of civil servants. They handled every request in an orderly manner. They didn't really miss orders, but they dealt with each request without hurry. It did not matter that much as the restaurant was full of interesting stuff for us to look at, and we were not in a hurry after all. Also, they were not really having bad attitude. They just gave me a feel that they really didn't worry about their business.

As for the food, their qualities were fine and they were standardised, reminding me of civil servants again. Let's start with French fries. To make wonderful and crispy French fries, accurate measurements and heat are required. French fries here were superb, served in golden appearance and crispy texture, which proved that its kitchen was well organised and deserved praise! Besides, the portion was large, and there was so much mentaiko sauce, which would still be left over however hard you try to dip the fries. French fries is my recommended dish here.

However, there were no surprises for the main course while it was all about mere standards. It felt like every ingredient was prepared with prescribed steps, and each of them was independent from each other. The spaghetti was just spaghetti, tasting okay, but it did not befriend the crab sticks lying above. For omurice, it was only rice covered with egg, having signed an independent statement with the unadon on top as well. Fortunately, the unadon sauce could mix well with the rice. All kinds of ingredients looked good when placed together, and each part was fine as individuals, but there was no team work in between. It was just like those piecemeal policies which have been prepared with every effort, but when put together, they do not deliver much effect.

The drink was a dark beer mixed with coffee. It was fragrant. The dessert was molten chocolate cake, with heavy sweet chocolate taste, matching the fresh vanilla flavor of the ice cream. The special thing was the card on the top stating "MAMA said I was too fat", which was humorous, but in reality mothers (at least Asian mothers) almost always tell their kids that they were too thin and should eat more... (Some civil servants are indeed quite away with the fairies)

"Civil servants" is not a negative description. This restaurant showed considerable potential. If it puts more effort on their main course, it can hopefully reach the next level!
