Hello, Fat Friends. I've got quite a backlog of reviews that need posting. Sorry for the leave of absence, but bear with me while I get everything caught up!

For a bit of context, White Spot is a Canadian restaurant chain specializing in burgers and famous for its "Triple-O" sauce that combines relish with mayonnaise. The Triple-O's by White Spot diners offer those same burgers in a fast-food setting. While the chain was short-lived in the United States, no doubt because we had Burger King patties already (but more on that later), the company has successfully established several branches throughout the Asia region.

The husband and I each ordered a burger, fries, and drink. To begin on a positive note, it was nice to see a fast-food joint offering teas and coffees as an alternative to unhealthy sodas. The fries were fine, although I have to complain about any poutine that uses shredded-mozzarella-from-a-bag instead of squeaky cheese curds. Seriously, Hongkongers--ask a Canadian friend to point you in the direction of some proper poutine, and then please do not put ketchup on it, also. Please and thanks.

I was pleased when the kitchen topped my cheeseburger with a fried egg although it would have been even more impressive to see pineapple slices on the add-ons list. However, the burgers themselves were quite deflated, the patties thin and dry. The taste immediately conjured up memories of Burger King and their signature flame-broiled cooking method. Well, I guess that's a step above McDonald's, at least.

All in all, I certainly would have expected a bit more from a crowded venue in New Town Plaza, and from a place that "all the expats are talking about." I've given the meal an overall average rating, but that's fast-food average, not average-average. As for the price, I'll leave you, the reader, to determine whether $25 USD is too pricey for a fast-food date.
