I first found out about Po's Atelier as one of my friends really raves about their fig bread and then I found out that they also have a cafe right behind it which was aptly named Cafe Deadend as it was neatly tucked away at the end of the street. Located in PoHo (aka hipster central in HK), the cafe takes quite a hike to get to but that doesn't stop the crowds from lining up for the cafe on the weekends. Dirty ($35) - an interesting drink created by pouring a shot of hot espresso into cold milk. The result was like drinking a cold latte without the ice and with a much thicker and smoother finish. It was not sweet at all so perfect for those who do not like syrupy cold coffee drinks. [4/5]
B.E.L.T ($95) - a twist to the classic BLT with the addition of egg! This has got to be one of the best BLT sandwiches I've ever eaten. The crispy bacon and sunny side egg were delicious but I just loved the lettuce which was tossed with a honey mustard dressing and of course the bread! The bread was friggin' awesome as it was so fluffy and light to eat. It wasn't dense at all due to its loose and airy structure and I love it. [5/5]
Spiced Apple Tart ($75) - with gala apple, cinnamon sugar and homemade vanilla ice cream, this apple tart was amazingly intricate with the use of a whole apple as filling while thinly sliced horizontally. The textures were all there as the pastry was crispy and the apple was soft while the flavors were well balanced with the use of spiced sugar so the tart wasn't overly sweet. [4.5/5]
